The quick tart cocktail

A shot of  chilled vodka, a shot of Aperol, the juice of half a lime, and  4 or 5 ice cubes. If you have a fresh grapefruit that would be perfect now, juice half of it and add the juice to your glass. It’s tart and bitter and delicous.

Failing that, top with a third of a bottle of cold Izze grapefruit soda. If it’s too sweet for your taste, add more lime, and a big splash of club soda.

Enjoy while the sun is still high in the sky at 6 p.m.
